Volleyball coach? More like hottest freaking guy ever

Shane Davis, the head coach of Loyola’s reigning NCAA men’s volleyball championship team, has decided to quit his position to once again pursue his modeling career.

The male modeling industry is nothing new for Davis, who was labeled “Illinois’ hottest bachelor” in 2005 by Cosmopolitan magazine.

He also dabbled in the modeling business while he was a student at Loyola. He posed for different modeling agencies including Fords Models Inc. and BMG. Davis’ perfectly sculpted jawbone could frequently be found on posters throughout Abercrombie & Fitch and Hollister Co. stores.

“I love volleyball and enjoy coaching it,” said Davis. “But I think it’s time for me to pursue another career path. I have to give the people what they want.”

And what the people want to see is a recreation of the November 2005 issue of Cosmo magazine, which featured Davis lying on a stack of hay.

Davis plans to appear on the next season of America’s Next Top Model in hopes to be one of the first male models to win the show.

“I believe my natural competitive nature that I got from playing volleyball growing up will one-up me from the rest of the competition,” Davis said.

Throughout the show and in order to flourish his career of being professionally gorgeous, Davis plans to channel his inner spirit animal, Derek Zoolander.

“Zoolander and I have a lot in common,” he said. “We’re similar in the fact that we are both just really, really, ridiculously good looking.”

As of now, Davis is filled with remorse about leaving the men’s volleyball program, but says he believes his assistant coaches, Mark Hulse and Kris Berzins, will do a good job in continuing the success of the program and looking good on the sidelines without him.

Some of his players were shocked to hear the news.

“Uhh…What?” said junior outside hitter Thomas Jaeschke.

“You’re kidding, right?” said freshman middle attacker Jeff Jendryk.

However, Owen McAndrews, a redshirt sophomore, was ecstatic about his coach’s decision.

“I think this could be a really great opportunity for him and that he should pursue whatever dreams he has. I’ll give him my full support throughout his journey,” said the human resources and employee relations major.

Davis’ journey may include other dreams and aspirations, but that’ll be down the road.

“I’m pretty sure there’s a lot more to life than volleyball and being really, really, extremely, ridiculously good looking,” Davis said. “But for now, I plan to focus on my modeling career.”
